douglas miller team retreats

Retreats for the team are a great way to re-invigorate, re-vitalise and prepare the team for the challenges ahead. Douglas has run retreats in more than 20 countries for NGO’s, NPO’s, National Banks in Europe, Local Government Authorities and UN and OSCE agencies.  In recent years his services have been in particular demand in poor and/or post-conflict countries such as Haiti, Kosovo, Bosnia and Tajikistan.

He brings passion, energy and commitment to the groups he works with helping them to engage with each other about the challenges that lie ahead for them in a fun, participatory and entertaining way.  Over the last five years we have developed retreats around 3 core subjects – team building, communication and innovation.  Special ‘one-offs’ have also been delivered around project management (for 240 people!), work-life balance and positive thinking.

Team-Building

worldwide, 1-3 days, 20 - 200 people

This is the most popular of the retreats Douglas runs.  Full of energy and fun, the retreat is based around a series of activities (between 4 and 12 depending on the duration) during which participants work with as many other people in the room as possible and develop their skills together. Each activity covers a different aspect of team-working e.g. communication, planning, positive attitude and improving team relationships. Communication Skills

worldwide, 1-3 days, 20 - 100 people

‘We need to talk to each other more’ is a common cry in many organisations.  By getting people to ‘play’ together, to learn to listen to each other more and to develop their social intelligence skills the neutral, relaxing environment of a team retreat is a great place to start. This retreat has been particularly popular with groups containing people of many nationalities as a way of getting them to work better together in a fun way.  Click here to download a pdf document for more information.

Innovation and Creativity

UK and Western Europe,  1-3 days , 30 - 200 people

Innovation is arguably the most important business skill that ‘not for profit’ and ‘for profit’ organisations need to address in the first 20 years of this new century.  So many have included innovation in their ‘mission statement’ or statement of core beliefs and yet, historically so few have done anything about it.  Things are changing and this workshop has been developed over the last 12 months in response to a number of clients (almost all in the NGO/NPO sector) who want to do things better, cheaper, quicker and with less stifling bureaucracy.  Click here to download a pdf document for more information
